Areas of Industry Expertise

Meet Richard J. Rice

CEO and Founder

 I am the founder and CEO of March Capital Corporation and have over 40 years of experience in the investment industry. I acquired the firm that became March Capital in 1993.  Over the course of my career, I assisted with capital raises for early stage entities which now account for over 3,000 American jobs.  I am very proud of this accomplishment. Among these companies are:

Numerix, MedSpeed, Gold Coast Multiplex (now Fitness Formula Clubs), Windy City Fieldhouse, and River West Lofts, the first large scale residential development in what has become one of Chicago’s very vital new neighborhoods.

Prior to acquiring March Capital, my career included: CPA/auditor; real estate brokerage, acquisition & development; and hedge fund representation. I also served as senior vice president of a Chicago based NYSE member firm, where I managed the firm’s private offerings in real estate, energy, and R&D. A career highlight was leading the investment group that worked with Mayor Harold Washington’s administration, saving from demolition and restoring to is original beauty, the landmark Chicago Theatre. Having observed the 100th anniversary of its opening in 2021, it remains a stellar concert venue in this great city. Decades later, while there is lasting satisfaction from having been a key member of the team that brought that complex project in on budget and on time, it is hard to top the memory of welcoming Frank Sinatra to The Chicago, shortly before he headlined re-opening the theatre to national acclaim.

Community service has been a significant commitment for me including the following leadership roles:

CONDUCT, the Committee on Decent Unbiased Campaign Tactics, which had a major impact on ridding bigotry from Chicago elections during the fractious 1980s and 90s—board member 1987-94, and Chairman 1992-4;

Chicago Conference on Soviet JewryChairman 1984-89, and

National Conference on Soviet JewryMember Executive Committee 1985-90;

American Jewish Committee, member of national board and chairman of international relations 1988-91, and president of its Chicago Chapter 2005-7;

Jewish Federation of Chicagoboard member 1988-92, and vice chairman of its Community Relations Council 1988-91.
